かりあげ【刈り上げ】

1 〔イネ･ムギなどの収穫を終えること〕 harvesting; reaping; gathering in.

2 〔首筋の頭髪を短く刈ること〕 cutting [trimming, clipping] the hair short in the back (of the head); (女性の) shingling; 〔その髪型〕 a short back; (女性の) a shingle.

●刈り上げにする have one's hair shingled.

刈り上げ祝い a harvest festival.
